Johannes Paha is interim professor of economics at Hohenheim University, Privatdozent (industrial organization) at Justus-Liebig-University Giessen, and Research Associate at the Center for Competition Law and Economics at Stellenbosch University, South Africa. Previously, he held positions as interim professor at Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg (development economics), Hohenheim University (environmental economics), Potsdam University (international economic policy), and Johannes-Kepler-University (Linz, industrial organization). He had been awarded a fellowship by the Center for Interdisciplinary Research at Bielefeld University and conducted research, for example, at Johns-Hopkins-University (Baltimore) and the University of Wisconsin (Milwaukee).
The results of his research on collusion and competition law compliance were published in renowned journals such as The Journal of Industrial Economics. He is the editor of a book on competition law compliance. More recently, he has turned to the study of sustainability in antitrust. His research interests also include competition aspects in environmental and development economics. In addition to interviews and reports about his research in news media, he has frequently been invited to present his research to authorities and at business conferences.
He has extensive experience consulting companies in all areas of competition policy (for example, cartel damages cases, the alleged abuse of a dominant position, and merger control). His industry expertise ranges from industrial products (elevators, trucks, paper) and fast moving consumer goods, over service industries (postal, logistics, insurance) to digital platforms.
